On Sunday last week, our Lego League team "The Character Builders" scraped the ice from the minibus and set off to Park Air Communications Systems | indra for the day to take part in the annual Lego League tournament along with 10 other schools.

FIRST® LEGO® League guides students through STEM learning and exploration. The children build Lego models that have a functioning part and place them on a competition mat. They then build and program the robot to complete each function. The students were asked to present a project to a panel of judges. This year the theme was saving the oceans. The team decided to look at the issue of ocean acidification, detailing the cause, effect, and solutions to the judges during their presentation. Students were also treated to a fascinating tour of the factory; we even got a peek at the top secret area where they make radios for military use!

We were super proud to win the Rising All-Star award - the judges gave the following feedback:

A team whose confidence grew massively throughout the day and displayed excellent team work and communication despite only having a matter of weeks to prepare!

A big thank-you to Alison Baxter, who gave up her Sunday to support the trip.
