World Book Day Celebrations

On Thursday 6th March, we celebrated WBD with an array of special events.

Author Saci Lloyd spent the day talking with students, inspiring them to read and write for themselves. She worked with students  from years 7 -9 about her books,  'The Carbon Diaries' and her new work, 'It's the End of the World as we Know it'. Staff joined in the fun by dressing up as book characters.

The annual 'Guess Who's Coming to Dinner' competition in the Library stumped students who had to guess book characters from a plateful of clues. All students received a World Book Day book voucher which they could use to get £1 off any book they liked or swap it for one of the special World Book day books, made available from the library. During Tutor Time over the week, students were given the opportunity to learn how to access free eBooks from the Library; to test themselves with a Books Quiz; enter the national token design competition and create a 'Book in a Box'.
